Two dead after head-on collision

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol says two women died  after a head-on collision on Heckscher Drive on Saturday morning.

Police say a Cynthia Davis, 62 was driving a 2010 Toyota Prius north in the left lane on Heckscher near Zoo Parkway about 10:30 a.m. when, for an unknown reason, she left the roadway.

Police say traveled through the median and into the southbound lanes where the front of her Prius hit the front of a 2007 Hyundai Sonata driven by Marjorie Houmes, 69.

Davis died before reaching UF Health Jacksonville. Houmes was initially reported to be in critical condition, but a friend of the family told News4Jax that Houmes has died.
