Police identify couple in apparent murder-suicide

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are investigating after a 59-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman were found dead at midday Friday in a home on River Hall Drive.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide unit said the husband, David E. Williams, apparently shot his wife, Teresa M. Williams, then himself about 48 hours before their bodies were found.

"(The) medical examiner will do more examination and (we're) still following up some leads," Sgt. Jay Farhat said.

Police said the wife's employer called police when she hadn't shown up for work. Officers conducting a welfare check found the bodies.

David Ramseur lives right across the street and couldn't believe it.

"It's terrible, just real terrible incident here. So it just, it just brings you back to reality. People that have little problems in their life but they forget the main thing is the life hereafter, not the life here. They get caught up in the little things and let the little things boil over," Ramseur said.

Ramseur said the couple has lived at the house for three years and said the husband would take immaculate care of their lawn and even help out neighbors with theirs.

He said that the couple always seemed so nice and cooperative toward each other and there was nothing that would have led him to believe that anything was wrong with the couple.

Their names will not be released until the next of kin is notified.
