Deputies: Ecstasy found between car seats
Thomas Petrick, 26, booked into Marion County Jail
MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County investigators arrested a man accused of trafficking ecstasy. Deputies say a scale and pills were located between two child seats in the back of his car.
Detectives pulled over Thomas Petrick, 26, for traveling over a median on South Highway 441 in Summerfield over the weekend.
He told investigators he was swerving because he dropped an electronic cigarette and tried to pick it up while driving.
A deputy and his K9 searched the vehicle and the dog detected narcotics, according to MCSO.
Detectives said they found a bag that contained a mason jar filled with 1,258 multi-colored pills, which tested positive as MDMA, also known as ecstasy.
An electronic scale was also found near the pills, deputies said.
Petrick told investigators they were diet pills that he purchases from Amazon.com.
He was booked into the Marion County Jail and charged with trafficking illegal drugs and two counts of use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
