PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla – Two people were killed Saturday night when their motorcycle hit by a truck that turned in front of them in southern Putnam County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 10 p.m. on Reed Bell Drive, off of U.S. Highway 17 just north of San Mateo.

A truck going south on U.S. 17 was trying to turn left onto Reed Bell Drive. In the report filed by FHP troopers it says the truck failed to yield, and turned in the path of the motorcycle, which was going north on U.S. 17.
The motorcycle couldn't stop in time and hit the right side of the truck. The motorcyclist and the rider were thrown from the bike. They are both dead.
FHP has identified the victims as John Bartelli and Mary Shope.
Charges related to the accident are pending.
