Ford dealership catches fire on Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department put out two fires at an auto dealership on the Westside Monday night.

Around 6:20 p.m. firefighters responded to the AutoNation Ford dealership on Blanding Boulevard in reference to smoke inside the building. Firefighters found charred embers in some mulch near the bushes, which started from a smoking device, JFRD said.

Firefighters were able to put the fire out immediately and left the scene, but an hour later wood paneling that was near the bush fire heated up and caught fire.

There were people inside the dealership at the time and everyone escaped. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were able to control the fire in 20 to 30 minutes.

About 60 to 70 firefighters were on scene for safety reasons and because of the size of the building.

There was no damage to any of the cars.
