St. Augustine named 4th 'best small town'
Oldest City near top of Livability's 100 best small towns in America
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – One of the top-rated small towns in America is right here on the First Coast.
St. Augustine was ranked No. 4 on Livability's recent "100 best small towns" list, gaining accolades for its historical attractions, entertainment options, beaches and "vibrant" downtown with a relatively tiny population of 13,271.
The ranking also notes St. Johns County's top-ranked school systems, and the presence of Flagler College and the School for the Deaf and Blind, the largest school of its kinds in the country.
Livability also cites the area's low cost of living, warm climate, parks, golf courses and active artistic community.
St. Augustine earning a spot near the top of the ranking comes as the city prepares for its 450th anniversary celebration in September.
The only cities ranked higher than St. Augustine were Lebanon, New Hampshire; Los Alamos, New Mexico and Durango, Colorado.
