ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Four kayakers were rescued out of a small creek near the Pelican Reef subdivision in St. Augustine Monday night.
Officials said the kayakers stepped out of their boats in the middle of the creek when they were tired of paddling around 4:45 p.m.

The combination of shallow water, thick mud and oyster shells made the rescue effort difficult.
The St. Johns County Fire and Rescue Department and the St. Augustine County Fire and Marine Rescue assisted in the rescue of the kayakers.
SJCFR said the four kayakers and all fire crews made it to shore.
No injuries were reported.
