Florida Country Superfest returns to Jacksonville
Festival runs June 13, 14
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It's a weekend country music fans have been waiting for, the Florida Country Superfest comes to EverBank Field on Saturday.
The lineup includes performances by Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Zac Brown Band, Brantley Gilbert and more.
The two-day festival at EverBank Field runs June 13 and 14 but the stadium is already preparing itself for the music festival.
"Until last year there hadn't been a major music event in the stadium for over a decade, it just shows what we can do," Bill McConnell, SMG Jacksonville general manager, said.
McConnell said he expects a great turn out this weekend and said that although it's a popular event, tickets are still available and they start at $40.
"To fill it up would be 75,000 people per night, so we've still got great tickets left available," McConnell said.
Music starts on the main stage at 5 p.m. each day, but the first acts at the Fan Fest start playing at noon.
The Sheriff's Office encourages people to get there early and parking at the stadium opens at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Police compare the traffic flow to a typical Jaguars game day.
"We will create the rows, three in and three out, and one way traffic patterns after shows. We feel that with no construction inhibiting, there should be no problems getting to and from the Superfest," Chief Leonard Propper of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
All bridges will be open and this year, unlike last year, water taxis are available.
A lot of people will be tailgating before the concert and police said they're prepared for those crowds.
"We have multiple policemen working inside and outside as well as fire rescue with the golf carts, aid for dehydration or dizziness or whatever ailment," Propper said.
Also people planning to park at or near the stadium, the paid parking will be cash only.
