I-95 to close overnight Monday, Tuesday

FDOT contractor must detour traffic while it installs overhead sign

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Interstate 95 between Baymeadows Road and Philips Highway will be closed Monday and Tuesday nights while an overhead sign is installed, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. -- weather permitting -- southbound I-95 traffic will detour west onto Baymeadows Road and south on Philips Highway back to I-95. Northbound traffic will detour north on Philips Highway and east on Baymeadows Road back to I-95.

The closure is necessary to remove and replace existing overhead signs located between Baymeadows Road and Philips Highway.

This is part of a $20 million FDOT project that began in September 2011 to rehabilitate 6.3 miles of concrete pavement on I-95 from south of Greenland Road to just south of Butler Boulevard.
