3 hurt when SUV leaves I-75, lands on US 90 below

LAKE CITY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol said a Cadillac Escalade heading north on Interstate 75 late Monday afternoon left the highway, went over the guard rail and landed upside down on the sidewalk of the westbound lanes of U.S. 90 below.

The FHP said the driver, Jessie Bumpers, 84, of Belton, Texas, was taken to UF Health Gainesville with critical injuries.

Passenger Consuella Bumpers, 57, also of Belton, was taken to UF Health with serious injuries. An unidentified third passenger was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Troopers said two vehicles on U.S. 90 suffered minor damage when hit by debris from the SUV crash.

Lake City police said the westbound lanes of U.S. 90 were blocked into the evening as the 5:35 p.m. crash was investigated the wreckage cleaned up.
