DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Members of a Daytona Beach church got a scare when a man threatened their pastor during Sunday services.
The incident was reported at the Madison Heights Church of God in Christ.
Officials said the 39-year-old man walked up to the pulpit and screamed that he is God. He then threatened the pastor, officials said.
Police said they determined that the man was the pastor's nephew and that he had not taken his schizophrenia medication.
No one was hurt.
The pastor told police that he did not want to press charges.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he was being kept in protective custody.
