Troopers say Ulis Taylor, 44, made improper U-turn
LAKE CITY, Fla. – A motorcyclist was seriously hurt after a crash involving a pickup truck Monday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of State Road 100 and Southeast Newell Drive. Troopers said Ulis Philip Taylor, 44, of Lake City was injured.
The motorcyclist was stopped facing eastbound on the south shoulder of State Road 100 and made a U-turn in front of 66-year-old driver Keith Free's Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Free tried to avoid the crash by pulling to the left and braking, but was unable to stop in time. He struck the left side of the motorcycle.
Taylor was not wearing a helmet and was charged with making an improper U-turn. He was flown to Shands UF at Gainesville for treatment.
