Man shot at barbecue in Northwest Jacksonville

Man taken to UF Health with non life-threatening injuries


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is recovering after being shot at a barbecue in Northwest Jacksonville Tuesday evening.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office received a call at 8:11 p.m. in reference to a person shot on Mecca Street.

The man told police he was shot on Penton Street by unknown men.

The man in his 20s was then transported to UF Health with non life-threatening injuries.

JSO units searched the area and conducted a house to house canvass. Officers then located two crime scenes, one at 3800 Penton Street. and one at 3800 Mecca Street.

No further information was immediately released.
