Gov. signs All-American flag bill

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Gov. Rick Scott held a ceremonial bill signing Thursday for the All-American Flag Act in Panama City.

Under the All-American Flag Act, all United States and state flags purchased in Florida will be made entirely of domestically grown materials.

"I was proud to sign the All-American Flag Act," Scott said. "It shows appreciation to our brave men and women in uniform, veterans and businesses in our great nation. As a Navy vet myself, I am proud that we will continue to honor all of our military members that gives us the opportunity to live the American Dream."

"Our nation's flag is an important symbol of our pride as Floridians and Americans," Senate President Andy Gardiner said. "The All-American Flag Act further demonstrates how thankful we are to our brave military members and veterans for their service to protect our nation."

The All-American Flag Act goes into effect Jan. 1, 2016.
