JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 55-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to eight life sentences after being convicted of eight counts of capital sexual battery.
According to the Office of the State Attorney, authorities were alerted to a history of sexual abuse between Wilmer Lycans, 55, and three children.

Officials said Lycans forced the victims, who are now adults, to perform sexual acts with him on several occasions over a five-year span.
The victims were all under 12 years old when the abuse happened.
Lycans' terms will be served concurrently.
