Man convicted in attempted murder of taxi driver

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kenneth Newsome was found guilty Thursday night of the June 2014 attempted murder, kidnapping and armed robbery of a taxi driver.

Prosecutors said Newsome, 56, and a another person were picked by the cab driver, who was then stabbed twice in the neck and robbed of $17.

The driver was able to escape and get help. 

Newsome now faces life in prison. He will be formally sentenced the week of July 27.
