Senior citizen arrested on drug, weapons charges

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a search warrant of a St. Simons Island home turned up 5 ounces of marijuana, mushrooms, illicit prescription pills and multiple guns, 72-year-old Rickard Scruggs was arrested without incident, according to the Glynn County police.

The raid took place about 3:30 p.m. on Broadway Street.

Scruggs was charged with the illegal possession of the substance found as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In addition, he was charged with possession of drug-related objects.

The Glynn/Brunswick Narcotics Enforcement Team is comprised of officers from the Glynn County and Brunswick Police Departments.
