JSO: Carjacking ends in Springfield

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An SUV taken at gunpoint early Sunday was intentionally crashed by police after a short pursuit on 11th Street late Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Lt. Brian Richardson said the SUV was taken from a victim at 1:13 a.m. Sunday on Norde Drive, on Jacksonville's Westside. It was spotted on Mars Street, several blocks north of UF Health Jacksonville. The vehicle was stopped several blocks away by an officer using a PIT maneuver, causing a controlled crash.

Richardson said there were no injures in the crash, and the three people inside the SUV were detained for questioning. Their names were not released at the scene. 

Police said 11th Street was closed through the early afternoon while the incident was investigated and cleared.
