INTERLACHEN, Fl. – Detective Lynn Nicely (far right in photo) received the lifesaving award this morning from Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy for jumping into action and saving a mother's life on June 2, 2015

Sheriff Hardy says Detective Nicely was working traffic control at the Interlachen High School on graduation night .

"All of a sudden a car stopped in front of the detective, and high school student Stephanie Begley (second from right in photo)  ran up to the detective saying her mother was in cardiac arrest", said Hardy.

Detective Nicely immediately checked Tennia Begley (second from left in photo) and could not detect a pulse.

Witnesses say Nicely immediately enlisted the help of another bystander to remove her from the car and he then Nicely began CPR that started Begley's breathing and pulse again.

Tennia Begley was taken to the Putnam Community Medical Center by EMS and ultimately received bypass surgery.

Tennia's entire family was at the awards ceremony, and expressed sincere appreciation to Detective Nicely for saving Mrs. Begley's life.
