Homeowner shot with girlfriend, 8-year-old in home

2 masked men sought in home-invasion shooting

PALATKA, Fla. – A violent home-invasion robbery left one person in critical condition late Tuesday night in Palatka.

The Palatka Police Department said two suspects wearing mask and brandishing handguns broke into a home at 2411 Gillis Street around 11 p.m.

According to a press release, 30-year-old Marcus Givens, his girlfriend Amanda Hins and their 8-year-old son were inside when the men broke in, demanding money.

Hins retrieved an undisclosed amount of money from another room. During the robbery, Givens was shot.

He was taken to Putnam Community Hospital and then airlifted to Shands at UF Health Hospital in Gainesville in critical condition.

It's believed the two suspects got into a dark colored SUV and fled the area.

They are described as black men in their twenties, 5 foot 10 inches to six foot tall. One suspect wore a white shirt, dark pants and had what appeared to be a black ski mask covering his face. The second suspect had on a  red shirt, dark pants and had a red and black mask over his face.
