Police: Man stabbed by girlfriend in Palatka
PALATKA, Fla. – A man is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed by his girlfriend in Palatka Thursday, according to the Palatka Police Department.
Officers responded to Staples on Highway 19 in reference to a report of a stabbing at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
Police said that 33-year-old Travis Walters and 27-year-old Roxanne Gaedele got into a fight in the Staples parking lot.
Initially, Walters told police that a man jumped out of the bushes and stabbed him. But a report later revealed that Gaedele stabbed Walters in the back after he reportedly pushed her, police said.
Walters was taken to the Putnam Community Hospital and he was later airlifted to Shands Healthcare in Gainesville.
His injuries are non-life-threatening and he is expected to be released from the hospital Friday.
No one was arrested and no charges have been filed.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
