Robbery on University of Florida campus

1 suspect in custody; police searching for 2nd suspect


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Police are investigating an armed robbery on the University of Florida campus.


The university sent out a message through its alert system about 1 a.m. Monday concerning a robbery near sorority row. Both Gainesville police and university police were on the scene. Police say there are two suspects, both men.

One suspect was in custody, but police say that person did not commit the robbery. Police are still searching for the second person, described as a black man with short hair, 6 feet tall, weighing 185 pounds and wearing a striped shirt.

Both campus and Gainesville police are stepping up their patrols.
