Atlantic Beach elects new mayor, commissioner

Mitch Reeves wins the mayor race by 41 votes

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – Atlantic Beach has a new mayor and commissioner.

Tuesday night, Mitchell E. "Mitch" Reeves was voted the city's new Mayor in by a small margin. He received 1,614 votes to current Mayor Carolyn Woods' 1,573 votes.

Voters took to the polls to also choose a commissioner and decide on two amendments.

John M. Stinson will be the city's newest commissioner for seat two. He received nearly 55 percent of the vote to Maria Mark's 45 percent. Mark was the incumbent.

Residents also voted to adopt a new and amended city charter. But, residents voted down a second amendment on the ballot that would change the way commissioners are elected.
