Alleged armed robber arrested

PALATKA, Fla. – According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, a 30-year-old man who they said was on the run for armed robbery was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Putnam County Jail.

Deputies said that Corey Equon Jones of San Mateo was found in Palatka and arrested without incident for a robbery that took place on May 16.

According to officials, Fabian Bonilla was riding in a car with a female friend down Sunland Drive around 12:30 a.m. when Jones ran out of some nearby woods with a knife, stopping the car Bonilla was riding in.

That's when deputies said Jones starting beating Bonilla and threatening him with the knife demanding that Bonilla give him all his money.

After taking Bonilla's money, Jones then reportedly ran back into the woods, while Bonilla was driven to a business in San Mateo where he called the Sheriff's Office, deputies said. .

Bonilla was taken to the Putnam Community Medical Center by EMS, where he was treated for his injuries.
