FIU police say man appeared to smell feet of student sitting at table

MIAMI – Florida International University police are looking for a man who was seen crawling under a table at the main campus library.

The incident was reported Aug. 29 on the seventh floor of the Green Library.

An FIU Police Department bulletin said the man was seen "crawling underneath a table in a suspicious manner."

FIU police spokesman David Navas said in a statement that the man appeared to smell the feet of an unsuspecting female student sitting at the table.

The police bulletin said the man was believed to be riding a scooter.

"Although some may consider this to be humorous or insignificant, the FIUPD takes these reports seriously and continues to investigate the matter," Navas said.

FIU spokeswoman Dianne Fernandez said nobody was hurt and there have been no other reports.
