Huge trash pile illegally dumped in Putnam County

INTERLACHEN, Fla. – Someone dumped a huge amount of garbage at the front entrance to the Miller Blueberry Plantation on Highway 315 south of Interlachen, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the illegal dump happened sometime between Friday and Sunday.

Deputies said the pile of household garbage and yard trash measured approximately 15 feet long, 10 feet wide and 6 feet high and was neatly stacked in a perfect rectangle and compactly piled as if unloaded from a trailer or a large truck.

The owner of Miller Blueberry Plantation reported that the pile was not on the side of the road when she left the business Friday afternoon, but a friend called her Sunday morning to tell her that the trash was piled at the entrance to her business.

The deputy who responded reported that the trash consisted of cut tree trunks, a large amount of baby diapers, children's toys, empty beer bottles and other household trash, all in white trash bags.

The business owner and deputy retrieved some paperwork from the pile that evidently belonged to a young man with a listed address in Spring Hill, Florida.

Detective Donny Jordan has been assigned to determine who may have dumped the pile, and if the Spring Hill resident is involved.
