Police: Man hits 'annoying' man with machete

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 57-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after he hit another man in the head with a machete, the Gainesville Police Department said.

Alphonso Williams was charged with aggravated battery after he struck another man with the flat of the machete he was holding in his hand. The victim suffered no visible injury, police said.

Williams told police he hit the victim "because he was annoying him and would not go away."

Williams was booked into the Alachua County Jail on $5,000 bond for the second-degree felony charge.
