JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife's lover.

Jason Michael Franklin, 32, received the sentence for one count of first degree murder. He was convicted in August.

Franklin's wife called police in August 2013 after her husband came home and told her he just killed her boss, according to the State Attorney's Office.

Police found Edward Gonzalez, 34, dead in his home.

The investigation revealed Franklin went to Gonzalez's home after learning he and his wife had an affair.

Franklin confronted Gonzalez and shot him multiple times, including while Gonzalez was lying face down on the ground, according to the State Attorney's Office.

Gonzalez's wife and children were inside the home when he was killed.
