Man convicted in 2009 Jacksonville murder

Anthony Jevon Mincey, 38, faces mandatory life in prison

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was convicted Thursday in the murder of a 21-year-old in March 2009.

According to the Office of the State Attorney, Anthony Jevon Mincey, 38, shot Devaughn Durham in the leg at the corner of Whitner and McConihe streets as Durham met with another person at the intersection.

Durham was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Mincey, a five-time convicted felon, was convicted of murder in the second degree and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He will be sentenced the week of Oct. 12, when he faces mandatory life in prison as a prison release re-offender and habitual violent felony offender.
