Rifle stolen from school police officer's car
Ammunition, ballistic vest also taken from unlocked, unmarked police vehicle
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An AR-15 rifle was stolen Sunday from an unlocked, unmarked Duval County School Police Department vehicle, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Ammunition, a ballistic vest and other police-related items were also stolen from the vehicle, which was in The Hamlet subdivision on Jacksonville's Westside.
The auto burglary was one of several reported in the subdivision overnight Sunday, police said.
The burglars, who were caught on surveillance footage, went through the neighborhood and pulled on door handles to see if any vehicles were unlocked.
