Police chase ends in crash; stolen AK-47 recovered

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office took two men in custody Sunday afternoon after a brief chase on Interstate 95. A stolen AK-47 was recovered, along with a Glock pistol.

Police say an officer noticed a car speeding and swerving around Dunn Avenue. The officer tried to pull the car over, but officers say the driver sped up and tried to get away.

Police say the car sideswiped another car and hit a sign. Officers say the two men got out of the car and led a foot chase, but the men didn't get far.

JSO says the car used in the chase is a rental and matches a description of a carjacking from another zone.

Police are in the process of filing paperwork to file charges. They say one of the men is a convicted felon.

The driver of the car that got side swiped was not injured.
