Girl brutally attacked in August returns to school

Police still investigating who attacked, sexually assaulted Arlington girl

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The father of the 8-year-old who was brutally attacked in woods behind her Arlington apartment complex nearly months ago says she recovered enough to return to school, although the family has moved to another town.

The girl was beaten and sexually assaulted on Aug. 10. She was hospitalized for weeks after the attack and had multiple surgeries.

Police continue to search for her attacker, but had only a vague description.

Between Crime Stoppers and the Justice Coalition, the reward for a tip that leads to an arrest is up to $6,000. People calling 866-845-TIPS can remain anonymous and still be eligible for the reward.

The victim's father, who is estranged from the girl's mother, said the injunction that prevented him from seeing his daughter in the hospital, was lifted.
