JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 30-year-old Jacksonville woman has been arrested on multiple child neglect charges after six children were found living in a Northwest Jacksonville home in squalid, dangerous conditions.

Dominique Simmons is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and child neglect.

Six children, ranging in age from 3 to 11, were in the home when police were called there on reports of a shooting.

Police found a loaded AK-47, live ammunition rounds, marijuana, crack cocaine, items to manufacture drugs and feces on the children's clothes.

The Department of Children and Families was notified and DCF spokesman John Harrell said all the children have been medically checked out and are OK. They've been placed in the custody of a relative who has passed a background check.

Harrell said DCF is "very concerned about the living conditions."
