ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A St. Augustine family won a grand prize trip to Australia after entering a Lunchables contest called "Get Mixed Up Down Under."
The contest offered customers a chance to win over 100,000 instant win prizes and one grand prize trip for four to Australia.
That trip went to St. Augustine's Ellie Giles (pictured), 11, who entered the promotion with her parents' permission.
Ellie's father, Eric, was born in Australia and had not made it back to visit in nearly 35 years. The last time he visited, he was 11.
The trip gave Eric the opportunity to introduce his children to old friends whom they've never met and to show them the country where he's from, something he wasn't sure he'd ever be able to do.
"I allowed Ellie to enter the promotion never imagining we might actually win, but certainly hoping," said Eric Giles. "It was an incredible opportunity for me to visit Australia after so many years, and to show my family where I'm from was really special for me."
The family recently returned from Australia and shared photos of the trip.
The Get Mixed Up Down Under promotion was one of the highest entered in recent history for the Lunchables brand. Lunchables, a brand of Kraft Heinz, based the grand prize for the contest off Platy, the fun-loving platypus starring in Lunchables' Kabobbles TV commercials.
