Fire briefly evacuates elementary school


ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Webster Elementary School was briefly evacuated Friday morning because of a fire.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the St. Augustine Fire Department responded to the school on North Orange Street.


There was smoke in the hallway of the building when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters were able to locate the fire and extinguish it. They searched the school to make sure there are no other fires.

The students were allowed back into classrooms shortly after 9 a.m. No one was injured.

SJCFR and the State Fire Marshal are on scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
