Man killed in Northside shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is dead after being shot Saturday evening on the Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the shooting happened at about 6:30 p.m. at 545 Woodbine Street, near Springfield Boulevard. They said 21-year-old Malachi Andrews was with a large group of people when someone began shooting at them. It's unclear if the shots came from a vehicle or someone on foot.

Police said the group fled the area. The man shot was taken to UF Health Jacksonville where he later died.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is trying to locate the other people in the group. They are looking at surveillance video from the area to identify a possible suspect.
