Marshall Wood, the director of marketing for Malone Air Charter is in favor of extending the runway.

Wood said business in Jacksonville has the potential to triple and also said failure to extend the runway would cost the city 2,000 lost jobs.

Opponents said it's a safety issue. They want to keep the runway as it exists because they said extending it will create an unsafe environment for schools, churches and neighborhoods-- which goes against FAA guidelines.
