ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Clay County driver was taken to UF Health Jacksonville in critical condition Monday evening after his vehicle was involved in an accident at the intersection of County Road 217 and Long Branch Road.
Dustin Gladden was not wearing his seat belt when he lost control of his 2001 Chevy Cavalier and failed to negotiate the curve at the intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The vehicle rotated clockwise leaving the road and collided with a wooden utility pole on the driver's side. The car eventually landed in a ditch.
A woman passenger in the car, Connie Legg, who was wearing her seat belt, was also taken to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.
