JACKSONVILLE, Fla.

The Jacksonville Humane Society is hoping to raise 10-thousand dollars next on Giving Tuesday; a day dedicated to giving back.

Donations will go to help dogs like Fauna (pictured). She's a bulldog mix who was brought to the shelter after she was found on the street with a gunshot wound to her leg.

The Humane Society was able to help Fauna get the treatment she needed. She's still recovering but will soon be up for adoption.

Now in it's 4th year, Giving Tuesday was started in response to Black Friday. It's all about celebrating a different tradition; generosity.

"It's a national movement, and Fauna is sort of our poster child," Amy Pierce, Director of Development with the Jacksonville Humane Society, said. "She's just one example of the many ways we help animals in the community and how people who make gifts can help."

Anyone interested in donating can do so online, in person by visiting the Jacksonville Humane Society located at 8464 Beach Boulevard, or by phone at (904) 493-4566.
