JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old man on the Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced.
Clint Jones is charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and Tommy Brown is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.
Police said that Robin White was found Nov. 28 on Astral Street shot in the arms, chest and back. He was taken to a hospital but died on the way there.
Police said the investigation revealed that White and Brown had an ongoing dispute over personal differences that they planned to "settle" the afternoon of the shooting.
Brown brought a handgun when he and Jones confronted White on Astral Street. Witnesses told police that Brown never threatened to use the gun and placed it on a car that was parked in the driveway.
Police said Brown and White continued to argue, and for unknown reasons, Jones grabbed the gun and shot White multiple times. Brown and Jones fled the scene with the gun, a .38-caliber revolver that has not been recovered, police said.
Based on witness accounts, police obtained warrants for both men on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Jones turned himself in around midnight Tuesday on that charge and the charge of murder was later added.
Brown turned himself in on the gun charge around noon Tuesday. Police said he admitted to possession of the firearm and that he left it on the vehicle, but said he didn't know why Jones shot White.
