Storage shed destroyed in Fruit Cove fire

FRUIT COVE, Fla. – Drivers were kept off a stretch of Roberts Road near Cunningham Creek Elementary School early Wednesday morning while firefighters put out a fire, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 20-by-20-foot industrial storage shed in the woods at 1333 Roberts Road caught on fire. St. Johns County firefighters responded to a report of a brush fire about 6:30 a.m., but their access to the scene was blocked by locked gates. Once firefighters got on scene and established a water supply, they were able to get the fire under control and contain it to the immediate area.

The shed and its contents were destroyed, but there were no injuries.

The shed is located in a wooded area at 1333 Roberts Road. Fire-rescue had a hard time getting to the scene because of locked gates.
