Man hurt in shooting at Palatka home

Man involved in argument prior to shooting, witnesses say


PALATKA, Fla. – A man was hospitalized after being shot at a home Thursday, Palatka police said.

The shooting happened at 10:15 a.m. in the 2000 block of Eagle Street in Palatka.

Officers who were responding to a report of shots fired found one victim, identified as Chicago Leonard, 20, and a witness at the scene, police said. Leonard had what appeared to be multiple injuries to his legs caused by gunshots.

Witnesses told police Leonard was involved in an argument just prior to shots being fired. Police said information from witnesses helped to identify a 17-year-old person of interest in the case, who was found and was being interviewed about the incident.

Police said Leonard was taken to Putnam Community Hospital and was eventually taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville for further treatment. He was listed in stable condition.
