Annual 'Christmas in Avondale' event is this Satruday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is operating the Riverside-Avondale Night Trolley on the first Friday and Saturday of every month, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
St. Johns Avenue will be closed for “Christmas in Avondale” from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5. The family-friendly event is put on by the Shoppes of Avondale.
“We are excited to partner with Riverside Avondale Preservation and the Shoppes of Avondale to offer safe and convenient transportation for this weekend,” said JTA Vice President of Transit Operations, Lisa Darnall. “We encourage individuals and families to take advantage of the Trolley and enjoy the holiday festivities.”
The Trolley and Route 16 will have a slight detour this Saturday on St. Johns Avenue between Edgewood Avenue and Van Wert Street due to the holiday event.
The Trolley can take you to eat, shop and enjoy the nightlife in the historic neighborhoods of Riverside, Avondale and Five-Points.
Unlimited-ride, single-day passes can be purchased in advance for $4 at selected locations. A single ride can be purchased for $1.50 with exact change on the trolley. Seniors 65 and older with a valid Senior STAR Card have complimentary access. Credit cards are not accepted on the trolley.
