MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – Family and friends gathered Saturday in Middleburg to remember the life of 12-year-old Locke Gaddis.
Gaddis was struck and killed by a car as he was crossing County Road 218 from Omega Park on Nov. 12.

The driver, whom the Florida Highway Patrol describes as a 55-year-old woman, was never charged. Troopers said she cooperated with their investigation.
Gaddis' memorial took place at First Baptist Church, where several people remembered him as a bright, funny, energetic boy.
There was also a lot of talk about the need for a crosswalk in that area.
Gaddis' mother said she would like to see one put in near the park.
"They are building a new bike path, and it starts at Mimosa and goes down to Blanding, but there's no way for the children or anybody to get to one side of the street to the other to enjoy the bike path," Donna Gaddis told News4Jax.
Gaddis and others have started an online petition to convince county leader to install lights and a crosswalk, something she said could have saved her son.
