FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – Three people died in a Fernandina Beach mobile home fire, according to Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper.
The Medical Examiner's Office has identified two of the victims: Vivian Hendricks, 55, and Kenneth Hendricks, 62. A third victim has not yet been identified, but police said the third victim was a man.
The fire started around 4:30 a.m. at a home on Leo Drive. Once the fire was out, firefighters discovered the bodies.
Leeper said the victims were taken to the medical examiner's office in Jacksonville for autopsies and to be identified.
Leeper said one of the men in the home was on oxygen and was a smoker, but right now it is not known if that had anything to do with the fire.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
Neighbor Dawn Ward said she knew the woman who lived in the house was a great person and that she is devastated by the loss.
"Not relatives of mine, but friends of mine, friends of my mom. We've known these people a long time. This is a small town and we've grown up together," Ward said.
