American flight diverted to JAX after pilot smells smoke


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An American Eagle flight bound for Pittsburgh from Miami was diverted to Jacksonville Saturday night after the pilot smelled smoke in the cabin, CNN told News4JAX.

American Airlines Flight 4270 landed safely at JAX, according to Debbie Jones, airport spokesperson. Passengers were taken off the plane shortly after.

There was no fire on the plane and inspectors deemed it safe to fly.

Shortly after 7 p.m., passengers and crew were notified they would re-board the flight and continue to on to Pittsburgh.
