JSO determines shooting death 'domestic homicide'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 29-year-old man found dead inside a Northside home early Monday morning was identified by police as Jocolby Moss. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office determine his death was a domestic homicide and said there are not any outstanding suspects.

A woman in the home when officers arrived was taken in for questioning. The JSO said Tuesday the State Attorney's Office is reviewing the case to determine if there would be any charges filed.

A 911 call of shots fired about 6:30 a.m. brought officers to the Evelyn Drive home, just east of Pearl Street near 54th Street. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, a man in his late 20s to early 30s was found dead from a gunshot wound.

Neighbors said they heard four gunshots.

"The front door was open when police arrived, so the question is, did he come in after being shot or was he shot inside the house?" Sgt. Michael Paul said.

Neighbors say the area is full of children and they haven't had much of a crime problem.

"I've lived here for 5½ years and haven't had an issue happened like this before," Audra Singletary said. "It's the Northside, but I mean, it's not a bad neighborhood. I hope they find the person that did the crime and he pays for that."
