UMATILLA, Fla. – A Central Florida school district has alerted parents after a man was spotted taking unauthorized photos of students.

The same man was also spotted driving slowly past Umatilla Middle School at 305 E. Lake St., Owens said.

School officials and Lake County sheriff's deputies questioned the man, who was asked to leave the area.

A call went out to parents of students at both schools on Thursday to notify them about the situation.

"Law enforcement officers (Thursday) questioned the person who was taking photographs outside Umatilla High School during dismissal. He was not a member of the media and had no students enrolled," the message said. "He was trespassed from the school but not arrested. Some students may have seen the interaction and we wanted to make sure we kept you informed."

Two Lake County sheriff's deputy cruisers were parked outside the school Friday morning.

No other details were immediately known.
