Freight train headed to Jacksonville derails

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A freight train bound for Jacksonville derailed in Brevard County on Sunday.

The train was coming from Miami. It was carrying cargo and 3,000 pounds of diesel fuel when it derailed around 5 a.m.

 

Four rail cars and a locomotive came off the tracks. Investigators spent the day talking with the conductor and looking at the tracks. Neighbors said the tracks were recently worked on.

 

No injuries were reported and it is unclear what caused it to derail.
