2 uninjured in Clay County house fire

Clay County Fire Department: Red Cross assisting to 2 adults

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A house fire in Fleming Island left two people without a home Tuesday evening.

The Clay County Fire Department got a call at 4 p.m. in reference to a house fire on Pine Hammock Trail in Clay County.

The house was severely damaged and flames caused the chimney to collapse.

The cause of the fire is unknown and the fire marshal is investigating, according the fire department. 

The Red Cross was called in to assist the residents of the home.

A man told News4Jax that the woman who lived there with her daughter made it out safely.

No injuries were reported.

The Clay County Fire Department reminds people to check their smoke detectors and be cautious when using space heaters.
